What is SaaS?

location_onPlain-English guide

SaaS (Software as a Service) is software delivered over the internet on a subscription — you pay monthly or yearly, and everything runs in the provider's cloud, not on your machine. Examples: Google Workspace, Slack, Shopify, and Netflix.

Instead of buying software and installing it, SaaS customers subscribe and access the product through a browser or app. The provider handles hosting, updates, security, and infrastructure — and customers scale up or down as needed.

SaaS is popular with businesses because of predictable costs, automatic updates, and access from anywhere. For entrepreneurs, SaaS is attractive because a strong product earns reliable recurring revenue — which is why we help founders scope, build, and launch SaaS platforms.
